how to use eList
eList is WGNA’s electronic mail list. It is free for anyone who is registered. Any message posted to elist@wgna.net is automatically mailed to all registered eList members. It is the electronic-age equivalent of a "town crier" or "talking over the backyard fence"-- a way of broadcasting news or inquiries to other members of the community. Please note: this is a WGNA sponsored site, and it is not intended for commercial purposes (although it's okay to mention a block sale or your own open-house), nor is it a forum for debate or other political discourse.
You can choose to receive your eList postings in either of two modes:
1. "immediate": each posting is automatically mailed to you.
2. "digest": you get a single posting each midnight with a "table of contents", followed by the various postings.
The immediate mode may be preferable for home use, where you log in on occasion to see what’s happening, and you want the latest news.
The digest mode may be preferable if you give a work address, and do not wish to be interrupted by each individual posting. Note: some computer/email/software configurations may have difficulty reading the digest-mode files: they are ".EZM" files that can opened with Windows' Notepad. If you can't read the files, contact us to switch back to the immediate mode.
To register for the immediate mode, email to admin@wgna.net with the subject "add eList". To register for the digest mode, email to admin@wgna.net with the subject "digest eList". Either way, the eList administrator will endeavor to add you to the list of registered members as soon as possible, after which you should receive a welcoming message. If you do not receive this message in a timely fashion (couple days), please repost.
Click here for the "welcome message", with instructions on how the system works, and guidelines as to what is appropriate and inappropriate for this community forum. Also, please be sensitive to the "unwritten rules of netequette": it may be helpful to "listen in" on the conversations on the list for a short while before jumping in and making a splash.
